About URep Abroad

Through storytelling, training, and workshops, we help professionals grow their expertise, inspire future leaders in international education, and support the diversification of global education.

Our Story

Cliffs of Moher (Ireland)
Danjiri Matsuri (Japan)
Venice (Italy)

I just returned from an amazing semester in the Kansai region of Japan and was gearing up for another exciting study abroad trip to Hangzhou, China. But as I looked forward to my next adventure, I realized something was missing — stories that resonated with my experience as a Black woman exploring new cultures and narratives that captured the diverse perspectives of people navigating the highs and lows of studying, working, and living in different countries. I found it tough to come across these stories, as many accounts of the “diverse” study abroad experience didn’t seem to be available.

That’s when it hit me! I wanted to create a space where these stories could be shared—where underrepresented voices could find resonance, inspiration, and empowerment.

And that’s how URep Abroad came to life! What started as a platform for students preparing to travel has since evolved into a hub for professionals, educators, and students who aim to navigate cultures with confidence and purpose. Together, we’re reshaping the narrative of international education.
